When you hear the word “cabinet,” what do you usually think of?  Cabinets are more than wooden boxes in which we keep dishes, and thanks to these awesome cabinet woodworking plans from Woodworking4home, you too can build a one-of-a-kind cabinet with a specific purpose.  Why limit the wooden accents in your house to the kitchen?

With that in mind, we’ve compiled four of our favorite “out of the ordinary” cabinet projects from Woodworking4home.  Each of these cabinet woodworking plans feature fully-illustrated instructions, complete materials lists, and should help you keep the project on track and low-stress.

Laundry Hideaway Cabinet Plan
Using a framed opening, a few shelves, and the carefully measured dimensions of your laundry devices, you can create an all-in-one area for all of your laundry needs.  These cabinet woodworking plans help to hide the mess and clutter usually associated with a laundry room.  Don’t forget to measure for your power and water outlets to ensure a smooth fit when you add your appliances!

Sandblasting Cabinet Plan
An important tool in any craftsman’s workspace, a sandblasting cabinet can set you back a pretty penny.  Keep your shop as natural and cost-effective as possible by using these cabinet woodworking plans to build a silicone-sealed, fully functional cabinet for all of your sandblasting needs.  With a couple of coffee cans to shape the glove ports, this build is a snap.  As always, Woodworking4home hits the nail square on the head with this project.

Display Cabinet Plan
Keep your valuables and trophies safe but still visible in this key-locking, glass-fronted display case.  Working with glass is always a unique challenge, but this blueprint helps keep it simple.  One of our favorite things about this wood plan is that in the final result it is almost impossible to tell that the front operates as a door.  Overall, it’s an elegant take on a relatively simple concept.

Compact TV Cabinet Plan
While not a cabinet in the traditional sense, this open-air entertainment center is a great option for a bedroom with limited space.  The cabinet woodworking plans for this build feature a top-heavy design and sweeping curves on each side to give the illusion that the case takes up less space than it actually does.  This wood project is fairly straightforward and requires little in the way of time, expense, or woodworking knowledge.  This is a great project for a “first-time” woodworker.

As you can see, there is far more to the world of cabinets than kitchen storage.  If there’s anything in your home you constantly find yourself moving, looking for, or tripping over, it may be time to consider adding a singular-purpose wood cabinet to help keep everything organized.  Handmade wood cabinets add utility and grace to any room that features them.

You can use wood cabinets anywhere in your home, and if you look over all of the amazing wood plans and wood projects at Woodworking4home you’re sure to find something that suits your specific needs and desires, no matter what the project might be.  Though the site does carry a small membership fee, when you get a look at their 14,000 woodworking ideas and plans you’ll agree that they are well worth the cost (less than half a cent each!).
