Shed Building Plans

No matter what sort of storage you are looking to add on to your house, you’re probably going to need some shed building plans if you intend to construct it yourself.  While a properly built and aesthetically pleasing shed is an excellent addition to any home, even a simple build can get rough in a hurry when you start in the wrong place.  Luckily, Woodworking4Home has tons of great plans which are available for less than half a cent per blueprint.  Here are a few of our favorite shed building plans from the site:

Putter Shed Plan
This small walk-in shed is a great way to add a bit of storage without taking up too much space in the yard or breaking the bank on materials.  The plan allots for splitting the shed into two rooms, or leaving it as one large open space should you decide to keep some bigger items in there.  With natural light provided by a row of windows, it is a unique and very attractive alternative to the basic square shed.

Trashcan Corral Plan
While not technically a “shed,” no home should be without a trash can corral.  Featuring minimal materials (a couple of posts, a bit of lattice, and a few boards), this design is awesome if you are tired of the eyesore of your trashcans sitting in the yard and don’t have room to keep them in the garage.  One of the most basic shed building plans available at Woodworking4home, this project is great for beginners but has a look that professionals will love.

Smokehouse Shed Plan
Once again stepping outside of the basic shed building plans available around the internet, this one will show you how to build a nice smokehouse to add on to your outdoor area, featuring a pitched roof and siding.  You’ll also add moveable hangers for the meats you’re smoking, and a workbench for your cutting and supplies needs.  Of course, smoking is an art you’ll have to practice on your own; there are sadly no blueprints for great smoked meat.

Lawn Tool Storage Shed Plan
More of a cabinet for the side of a home than a walk-in room, this is intended for the landscaper who has everything but no place to put it.  With straightforward construction using plywood you can have a place to keep all of your tools organized and protected from the weather, all without taking up any space in your garage.

As with any project, always make sure to look over your tools and supplies to ensure you have everything you need to complete the task before beginning.  Also, in the case of sheds and exterior storage, it’s usually a good idea to consult with your local municipalities and homeowners association to ensure that what you are building fits within any possible restrictions they may have – you don’t want to build a great shed only to have to size it down or destroy it.

All of these shed building plans feature illustrations, material lists, and easy to follow walkthroughs of every stage of construction.  The end result is a professional and polished looking product in which you have invested minimal strain and time.  Thanks to Woodworking4home, your next storage shed is going to be a snap to build and look great too!
